Waxhaw Woodworks at Sunshine Acres specializes in a variety of wood-based services, including custom sawmill cutting at our location, high-quality firewood sales, and a wide range of general wood shop services such as custom furniture, wood drying, and the creation of unique wood products like coasters, cutting boards, coffee tables, and art pieces. Our goal is to meet all your woodworking needs with the highest quality of craftsmanship and customer service.

We primarily process all types of hardwood logs in our mill. Our focus on hardwood allows us to provide our customers with the highest quality lumber for their projects. Currently, we do not mill softwood due to our specialized equipment and the specific demand of our clientele for hardwood products.

Our milling services are billed at a rate of $110 per hour. This rate includes the skilled labor of our craftsmen and the use of our state-of-the-art milling equipment. Additionally, there may be costs for additional blades, depending on the specifics of your project and the type of wood being milled. We recommend discussing your project with us for a more accurate estimate.

We offer high-quality, seasoned firewood that is perfect for heating your home or for outdoor activities. Please contact us to check availability and to arrange a delivery. We occasionally offer pick up as well; inquire if this option is currently available.

Yes, we take pride in our ability to craft custom wood pieces, from functional items like cutting boards and furniture to artistic creations and decor. From fully-realized designs to the merest hints of an idea, our team is skilled at turning your vision into reality. We work closely with our clients through every step of the process to ensure satisfaction with the final product.

The process begins with a consultation, either in person or via email or phone. We discuss your ideas, requirements, and the scope of the project. We then provide a preliminary design and quote. Once the design is approved and the deposit is received, we will proceed with the crafting of your custom piece. Timelines can vary based on the complexity and scale of the project.

Waxhaw Woodworks has created a process to make the highest quality premium kiln dried wood for fires, cooking and smoking. Kiln dried wood burns longer, hotter and cleaner. 

The kiln drying process eliminates bugs, insects, mold and parasites that want to live in the wood. Kiln drying to meet USDA specifications makes it safe to ship and bring indoors without worries of extra “friends”.

All wood is kiln dried exceeding USDA Specifications by drying the wood in the kiln, and then finishing at 160 degrees for 48 hours.
